The Show Must Go On

This is not a story about perfection. It is a story about what happens when everything that once defined you begins to disappear: your career, your independence, your certainty, and you are left standing in the quiet, asking who you are without it.

The Show Must Go On pulls you into William David Watt’s deeply personal journey through love, loss, illness, and identity. It does not soften the hard moments or dress them up as inspiration. It tells the truth as it is lived. Raw, uncomfortable, and undeniably real.

About Author

William David Watt

William David Watt writes with a voice that does not hide behind polish. His storytelling is direct, honest, and deeply human shaped by a life that has demanded resilience at every stage.

Before illness changed everything, he built a career in education, spending over two decades teaching young children and becoming the kind of teacher who showed up fully, every single day. His work was not just a profession; it was identity, purpose, and proof that he had created a life beyond the chaos he grew up in.

Raised in an environment marked by silence, emotional distance, and instability, Watt learned early how to survive by becoming strong, capable, and present. But life does not always honor what you build. A diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis forced him into early retirement, stripped away independence, and reshaped how he moved through the world, physically and emotionally.

What remained, however, became the foundation of his writing: honesty, empathy, humor, and an unfiltered commitment to truth.

The Show Must Go On is not just his story; it is the result of everything he refused to lose, even when everything else was taken.

About the Book

The Show Must Go On

The Show Must Go On is a raw and unfiltered memoir that moves through love, identity, illness, and the kind of loss that reshapes everything. At its core is David, a man who built his life through resilience, only to watch it unravel piece by piece. From a childhood shaped by silence and emotional chaos to becoming a dedicated teacher who gave everything to his students, his life had structure, purpose, and meaning.

Then came the diagnosis. Multiple Sclerosis did not arrive dramatically; it slowly erased the life he had built. His career, independence, and identity slipped away, leaving him to confront a question most people never have to face: Who are you when everything that defined you is gone?

And then, just when the ground felt completely cleared, something unexpected entered his life—Edda.

This is not just a story of loss. It is a story about what remains, what rebuilds, and what finds you when you are no longer who you used to be.
